Inductive standard sensors for economical use in outdoor applications

The IMG inductive proximity sensor precisely detects metallic objects even in harsh usage environments. In price-sensitive mobile applications and automation solutions, it is suitable as a switch for end position determination of speed measurement. Using the IMG, fault-free processes can be ensured even with high temperature fluctuations. The fully-encapsulated sensor is impervious to mechanical shocks as well as vibrations and with its IP69K rating is protected against water as well as oils, coolants and all kinds of contamination. This makes the IMG an economical solution for challenging outdoor uses and machine construction. Thanks to plug and play, the sensor can also be commissioned quickly.

The IMG has been reduced to the essentials and, thanks to the high-quality components and the SICK ASIC technology, delivers precise detection results at an optimized price/performance ratio. In combination with a rugged design, it also operates reliably under harsh conditions. This results in practice in reduced downtimes and stable processes, which makes it a suitable solution for use in mobile machines and machine construction.

The high leak tightness with enclosure ratings IP68 and IP69K and the especially good shock resistance extend the service life and ensure reliable operation.

Large sensing ranges from 4 to 20 mm allow a wide variety of fields of application – from workpiece detection right through to speed measurement tasks in vehicles.

Two color indicator LEDs provide immediate visual feedback for the detection status.

Durability for many fields of application

Whether Alaska or Sahara: The IMG proximity sensor withstands extreme temperatures and harsh outdoor conditions. This enables it to detect reliably over a temperature range of –40 to +85 °C. The IMG is also resistant to oils, coolants and other contamination that can arise when used in mobile applications and diverse production facilities. Thanks to its EMC performance and high shock resistance, it is suitable for numerous applications – both in production halls and also installed in mobile machines.

From speed mode for high-speed applications, to precision mode for precise positioning tasks, to standard mode for use in harsh conditions – the W10 is optimized for user success.

Configurations such as foreground and background suppression can be selected via the intuitive touch display to boost detection quality.

In addition to the common Single Value Teach, which detects objects at a defined distance, a Two Value Teach allows objects of different heights to be detected without increasing the risk of detection errors. A manual mode extends the teach options and provides high flexibility.
